It is important to understand that neither personal nor commercial breathalysers exhibit zero variance. This suggests that there could be slight differences between the solution level, generally at 0.050% BAC, and the reading shown on the recalibrated device. The Australian Standard, along with manufacturers’ guidelines, specifies a tolerance range of 0.045% BAC to 0.055% BAC. For safety considerations, Breathalysers Australia has chosen a more restricted range of 0.048% BAC to 0.054% BAC.
Unfortunately, no. Kindly consult the steps outlined above to understand how our process operates. Essentially, when the facility obtains the pre-assigned Australia Post satchel, it is scanned and linked to your unique information along with the device serial number. This procedure is also a component of the AS3547 compliance requirements.
Your recalibration will be set to a standard cycle reminder duration. You have the option to adjust this cycle; however, doing so may result in it falling outside the suggested AS3547 certification timeframe. Please refer to Device Recalibration Cycles for further information.
Recalibration of the BACtrack S80 Pro Gen2: Personal, Trace Pro Gen2, Mobile Pro Gen2, and Scout Gen2 is priced at $64.50.

Recalibration of the BACtrack S80 Pro Gen2 is $72.30 + GST Standard or $78.80 + GST Premium Express.
This fee includes pick-up and return courier services, recalibration, airway servicing, and the Certification of Accuracy. The recalibration of workplace devices incurs a higher cost due to the extra procedural steps involved.

6 months – $90 + GST Standard or $100 + GST Premium Express
12 months – $165 + GST Standard or $175 + GST Premium Express
18 months – $230 + GST Standard or $240 + GST Premium Express
This fee includes pick-up and return courier services, recalibration, airway servicing, and the Certification of Accuracy.
Personal use:
The AS3547 Standard for our personal use devices mandates a calibration frequency of every six months. However, some customers opt to extend this interval to either 9 or 12 months.
The devices intended for personal use that we calibrate include: Scout Gen 2, Trace Pro Gen2, Mobile Pro Gen2, and S80 Pro Gen2.
Workplace use:
For the S80 Pro Gen2: Workplace we recommend following the AS3547 Standard of a 6-monthly calibration frequency.
The SHIELD Touch and SHIELD Identity Breathalysers are set to a recalibration cycle of 12 months. Users have the option to choose a calibration period of 6, 12, or 18 months for future calibrations in accordance with the Australian Standard for these devices.
Breathalysers require recalibration as the sensor’s accuracy inherently drifts over time regardless of use.
If your device is registered, you will automatically receive an email or SMS notification when it is time for recalibration. For email correspondence, simply reply to the message that contains your device’s serial number and delivery address, and inform the team if any information is inaccurate. For SMS, please respond with “Yes,” and we will send you a link where you can verify that your delivery address and serial number are correct.
If your device is not registered, please click on the blue “Book a Recalibration” button located at the top of this page.
Kindly verify by checking the breathalyser serial number to ensure that you are sending the correct device. Please be aware that postage and handling fees will be incurred if an incorrect device is received.
Please refer to “Make a Recalibration Enquiry” located at the bottom of this page for any additional recalibration inquiries.
Kindly return the breathalyser in the provided blue rubber case, ensuring it is wrapped in bubble wrap or another appropriate protective material. It is unnecessary to include the hard black carry case.
This service is exclusively available to business customers. The rationale behind this is that businesses typically possess printers and face stricter time constraints regarding certifications. The premium recalibration service effectively reduces the turnaround time by providing a return express label via email to the company, and once the unit is received, it is sent back through Australia Post Express.
There is no obligation on behalf of our customers or Breathalysers Australia to recalibrate devices. However, we provide this service to our customers to assist in maintaining the accuracy and optimal condition of their devices.
We are authorized solely to recalibrate units that have been sold or recalibrated within the last 18 months. Recalibrating devices that have remained uncalibrated for extended periods may lead to the unit failing to maintain its calibration for the standard duration.
All units that we sell are tracked and monitored by their serial numbers. In compliance with the AS3547 certification, Breathalysers Australia is authorized to perform recalibration only on the units that we have sold.
There are instances when successful recalibration may not be feasible. As an example, this can happen due to sensor damage or environmental factors encountered in the field. In such cases, we will refund your recalibration fee and return your device. We will provide you with information regarding the subsequent steps, and if we do not hear from you within 6 months, the device will be disposed of.
We do not perform recalibration on BACtrack Go Keychain Gen2, C6 Smartphone Gen2, or C8 Smartphone Gen2 units because it is not cost-effective to do so.
We perform recalibration services on a daily basis at our Certified NSW facility. Once the device arrives, it is typically recalibrated within 1 to 2 business days.
Depending on the breathalyser model, the serial number may be located inside the battery compartment or on the side or rear of the device. The serial number is also printed on the side of the retail packaging.
Breathalysers require recalibration as the sensor’s accuracy inherently drifts over time. Additionally, alcohol residue and intake particles gradually build up on the sensor, resulting in the device recording inaccurate readings. Regular recalibration will extend the unit’s lifespan through the benefits of servicing.
Recalibrating devices that have remained uncalibrated for extended periods may result in the unit failing to maintain its calibration for the expected duration. This can pose a safety risk, as individuals may make decisions regarding the operation of machinery, including motor vehicles, based on incorrect assumptions. In essence, they may believe they are competent when they are not. The recommended maximum calibration interval is 12 months for personal use and between 6 to 18 months, depending on the model, for workplace testing.
