In this article we will look at the functional differences between the 3 x BACtrack Pro series models. Namely The Element, The Trace and The S80. These are BACtrack’s premier grade breathalysers and all contain slightly different levels of electrochemical (fuel cell) Xtend® technology sensors.
Flow Error Indicator – This is a must for any accurate breathalyser. It ensures that a consistent amount of air and alcohol passes over the breathalysers sensor before being measured. Element, Trace & S80 models contain this function.
Effective Breath Capture – A mini-solenoid pump contained within the breathalyser ensures that ambient air and fumes do not form part of the captured breath taken for analysis. Element, Trace & S80 models contain this function.
Adjustable Flow Detection – Stronger blows will result in deeper lung samples being taken, which in turn provide higher accuracy of samples. User comfort levels need to be taken into consideration however, hence the reason the unit can be adjusted to suit. Element, Trace & S80 models contain this function.
Previous Test Counter – Displays the last 10 test results when the breathalyser starts up making it easier to remember previous tests. This in turn enables the user to tell if their BAC is rising or falling. Trace & S80 models contain this function.
Test Counter – The unit will take a rolling count of all samples that have been taken since the breathalysers initial purchase or last re-calibration. This can assist with determining when recalibration is required and of course how much use is being obtained from the product. The S80 model contains this function.
Adjustable Units of Measure – Allows the breathalysers display measurement to be changed to suit personal preferences. The S80 model contain this function.
Adjustable Blow Time Setting – Longer blow times will result in deeper lung samples being taken. This in turn provide higher accuracy of samples. User comfort levels need to be taken into consideration however, hence the reason the breathalyser can be adjusted to suit. 5 second samples are considered the industry norm. The S80 model contains this function.
Adjustable Audible Alarm Point Setting – The breathalyser will give an alert indicating that the users result has surpassed a predefined level that the user has set. The S80 model contains this function.
